Summary
On April 26, 2013, an infrared sensor on a U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft above Rafael Hernández Airport near Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, filmed objects that appeared to move fast, split, and enter the ocean. AARO assessed "with high confidence that the objects did not exhibit anomalous behavior or transmedium capabilities" and "with moderate confidence that the objects were a pair of sky lanterns." AARO says the objects stayed over land and drifted at about 8 mph with the wind, and that their apparent disappearance came from low thermal contrast.
