Summary
On 26 January 2023, a military pilot reported four objects on radar near the Eglin AFB range, saw one visually, and captured two EO/IR images of a gray, cone-topped object; the aircraft's radar later failed after a circuit breaker tripped. AARO assessed "the reported UAP very likely was an ordinary object," most likely a lighter-than-air object such as a large commercial lighting balloon, and says it has "moderate confidence in this assessment due to the limited data provided." AARO assessed the circuit breaker trip was "coincidental."
