Summary
A memo by H. Marshall Chadwell, Assistant Director for Scientific Intelligence, relays a messenger's account of talks with R. V. Jones: Britain has had a standing committee on flying saucers for about sixteen months, which concluded "the observations are not enemy aircraft and that none have been over Britain." It says that ten to twelve days earlier, at an RAF field in Yorkshire, a "perfect flying saucer" was seen by visiting officials and RAF pilots during a demonstration, which disturbed Jones; the messenger told him of U.S. interest and the Navy NCO's Tremonton film. A second page lists potential dangers of sightings, including weakening early warning, enemy-induced "mass hysteria," and overloaded emergency communications.
