Summary
An Atomic Energy Commission cover letter of March 22, 1949, forwards a classified transcript of a Feb. 16, 1949, conference on "aerial phenomena" at Los Alamos, attended by military intelligence officers, an FBI agent, AEC staff, Dr. LaPaz (University of New Mexico) and Los Alamos scientists including Drs. Bradbury, Reines and Teller. Per the transcript, the meeting followed reports since December 1948 of green fireballs, and LaPaz contrasted conventional meteorite falls with a Dec. 12, 1948, fireball he personally witnessed. The stated purpose was to gather scientists' opinions on what the sightings could be.
