Summary

Air Materiel Command's initial report on Project 'Sign,' signed for the Commanding General by Col. H. M. McCoy, with a tabulation of incidents beginning with July 1947 sightings at Muroc Air Field and Portland, Oregon. It notes reported features including high climb rates, hovering, oval or disc shapes, sizes ranging from a 25-cent piece to 250 feet, and speeds from hovering to supersonic. It reports that Dr. Irving Langmuir was 'reluctant to consider the so-called flying discs as a reality,' and the enclosures include photos and an article from the magazine The Aeroplane, 'The Biology of the Flying Saucer.'

Note

The enclosed Aeroplane article is third-party press material, not a government finding; the scan is poor.
