Summary
Capt. Fred L. Allen of the 7350th Base Complement Squadron, Tempelhof, extracts air traffic control logs: one British European Airways DC-3 pilot reported apparent red rockets fired about a mile ahead, and another reported a stationary red light 20 nautical miles west of Genthin at about 5,000 feet. The British Berlin Air Safety Center said the Soviets checked and "could not account for it." A Pan American pilot saw nothing that night but said he had seen ground-to-air firing in the same area on Aug. 7.
Note
Coords are the position given in the log (5224N/1209E). The pilots' reports point to ground fire or rockets, not a craft.
