Summary
A 66-page FBI Newark file of index search slips, memos and referrals, plus 1960s flying-saucer club publications and clippings. It opens with an Air Force OSI letter forwarding a 1952 Air Technical Intelligence Center request to check the background and reliability of a civilian photographer in Paterson and a witness in Passaic, N.J., and to obtain data on the authenticity of seven photographs "allegedly of unidentified aerial objects." Later memos log citizen calls, including an Aug. 27, 1957, report from a U.S. Air Force Reserve captain of an object west of Clifton shaped like "an underwater demolition bomb" with cross-shaped light coming from "diamond-shaped holes," and a Nov. 5, 1957, Glen Ridge family's report of a long, cylindrical, dark silver object with fins and no wings.
Note
Several memos note that the information was passed to the Air Force OSI; the photographs themselves are not reproduced in the file.
