Summary

An intelligence community analysis (originating agency redacted) says the object seen by five U.S. Army service members at Fort Carson on Feb. 15, 2022, "was possibly backscattering of sunlight." It summarizes the witnesses' description of a jet-sized, shimmering white, potato-like object of uneven panels hovering 300–500 feet above the mountain for about 30–180 seconds before suddenly disappearing, and notes weather reports of partly to mostly cloudy skies despite the witnesses' recollection of clear skies. It states low confidence, says "No anomalous data or characteristics were recorded or assessed," that the event "did not represent an unknown adversarial capability," and that no aircraft or balloons were noted in the area.

Note

The analysis rests on sun angle, snow cover and cloud reports, and its authors flag their own low confidence.
