Summary
An excerpt from the Apollo 17 science debriefing has co-investigator Dick Henry describe ultraviolet results. They include finding no red-shifted Lyman-alpha from the Coma cluster, which "may leave a real mystery as to what is holding the thing together," and a high-latitude spectrum that looks like hot stars where none were in the field of view. He gives the conservative reading as reflected starlight off dust but says it is "at least possible that this is extragalactic radiation."
Note
Unexpected astronomy results, not an aerial sighting.
