Summary
The image shows an Apollo 17 lunar surface photograph with hills on the horizon and a yellow callout box enlarging three small faint dots in the dark sky at upper right. Per index: As part of the review of historical UAP materials under PURSUE, DOW has opened a case to investigate the accompanying NASA photograph from the Apollo 17 mission, taken December 1972. Per index, "new preliminary US government analysis suggests the image feature is potentially the result of a physical object in the scene," and full NASA and DOW results are still to be released.
Note
The index notes that this photo was released before and that there is "no consensus" on what the dots are.
