Summary
A cable from the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe reports that Tajik Air chief pilot Ed Rhodes and two American colleagues said that, flying a Boeing 747SP at 41,000 feet, they watched a "BRIGHT LIGHT OF ENORMOUS INTENSITY" for some forty minutes as it "MANEUVERED IN CIRCLES, CORKSCREWS AND MADE 90-DEGREE TURNS." The crew later flew under contrails the object had left, which Rhodes estimated at about 100,000 feet. Rhodes and his crew rejected the embassy's meteor suggestion.
